I am having issues rendering..i reviewed the tutorial and it still will not render properly. When I opened the rendered .mov file with QuickTime, it says file isn’t compatible with QuickTime player…also, i just rendered the default file without changing the text and the same thing experienced. Using a Mac and After Effects 2020, Catalina..

Hi Hawk! Make sure to set the Render Settings to something reasonable The default is Quicktime Animation codec which results in very big filesizes which might not be able to be played back. Try to render to ProRes422 codec and see if that can be played back by QT Player.
ProRes422 will automatically add a black background as it does not support transparency, so make sure the writing is not in black as well.

Hi, I have a question, is your script adaptable? I have a text font with a paint brush style, it has spaces, non-uniform edges, characteristic of the brushes used for freehand writing, do you think I recognize this font and develop it correctly?
Hi, the font cannot be changed, only the letters shown in the preview will be animated.

Hi, by default, the open dialog is set to only show ”.jsx” files. Set it to show ”.jsxbin” files as well and you will see the script file. Alternatively, just rename the script to ”*.jsx”

To recreate it some After Effects knowledge will be required, but with the project files you shouldn’t have any problems.

Hi, I have not used the script for some time but i now find that it does not operate as previously. The script box appears and when text is entered and “Go” pressed, a null object is created along with folders for Letters & Solids but both are empty. a dialogue box opens saying “Placing Text” but it then freezes until closed but no text. Worked ok on Win 7 but have since upgraded to latest Win 10 using CS6 AE but same on 2015. Please help.
Hi Legs,
make sure that you only use the script with the included project file open, it doesn’t work with other project files as it needs the animated letters compositions. (You can import the included project file into another project file, though. Make sure to move the folder “Letters” to the root of the project hierarchy)
Also make sure to not type in any special characters that are not included in the project.

Hi there, you need to run the script for that. Go to file -> scripts -> run script file and then navigate to the jsxbin file that comes with the downloaded files from videohive (located in the folder “script”).

Okay thanks for that. Now, when I create a new comp to make a new sentence, how do I control the speed of it appearing without having to do it manually?
drop that comp in a new comp and then play with the stretch value. To see that stretch parameter you may have to right-click on the top line that describe the columns in the timeline window and choose “columns” -> “stretch”. Alternatively, right-click on the layer and choose time -> time stretch.
oh fair enough, I thought I could duplicate that speed up your text comp and replace the comp with a comp I had created
that works just as well and might actually be the more elegant solution 
the other issue is that when I create a new comp using the typefacer dialogue box, it starts all the layers at the beginning and they are not staggered like they should be so each letter can animate after the last one finishes, why is that?
in reference to the speed up your text comp. no, that doesn’t work, tried it.
This should not be the case, the script should work in whatever comp you have active at the moment of executing it. Do you want to drop me a mail at info[at]creattivedesigns.com so we can take a closer look at what might be the issue?
regarding the speed up comp: select the old layer containing the old sentence, hold down ALT (or option on a mac) and then drag and drop the new comp holding the new sentence in the timeline. This way you actually replace the old comp with the new one. If you try to delete the old comp and then place your new comp in, it doesn’t work as you also delete the code that changes the speed.

As Im not a native english speaker, I had to google what an ampersand is, looks like it is this sign: &. Try to copy the sign from my comment here and paste it in the script text box, this should work.

How could I get the font changed?
Hi Danny,
changing the font is not possible, as all characters are animated by hand. If you change the font, you would have to redo the entire template.

I tried to add a camera on “1 Write your Text Here” composition and it didn’t show anything on the camera. Why?
Hi there, a camera works only with 3d layers and the letters imported are 2d by default. You can enable the 3d layer switch for all letters or drag the Write your text here-composition in a new composition and enable the 3D Switch for the whole text.

I just checked wikipedia. Looks like only the letter Å is missing (both upper and lowercase). correct?
