what is the best way to add animated dust/atmosphere to the scene? (i.e. an MP4 file set to “screen” blending mode). I am assuming it doesn’t support blending modes inside the 8 layers.

Hi there, you are correct, blending modes inside the 8 layers will not work, since parts of the picture are also located on these layers and having blending modes on just parts of the picture will of course not look desirable. However there is an extra text-layer which you can locate on any layer depth with a depth slider. This you can add any blending mode. But it is only one. If you want to add several extra layers with blending modes I’d suggest to create extra layers and parent them to the corresponding layer, so they behave the same. I hope that helps! :) Best Regards Anton

Hello! I am having an issue with the render. I am unable to get the visual guide bars to go away from my “animation” composition, so I am unable to render. Can you help me figure out why? Thank you!

Hi there! I’m sorry to hear about the issue. I think you are talking about the “Visual Help Mode” which helps you spread the layers evenly over the picture. You can deactivate it in the Effect Controls of the “Your Controls” Layer. Please let me know if that helps. If it doesn’t or you need further help with it please contact me through my profile page. This way we can exchange email addresses and in a second step you could send me your project file or screenshots and I will have a closer look. I’m sorry for the trouble. Best Regards, Anton

Very good video for promotion. I wan to use it for my pifra blog.

Hi, I really love your product . Great Job. I bought it because I saw the video showing it being used on an interior design photograph I bought it and tried to use it on a interior photograph of mine and it was pretty distorted. is there a way to mask it for the distortions to be minimal?

Thanks.

Hi there and thank you very much for your nice words on my simple Photo Animator :)

Yes, interiors can be tricky, especially when you have something like furniture in the middle of the room. When masking the background, the simple photo animator gradually defines everything which is further from the masked background being closer to the camera. So when you have something like a chair it will be part of many different depths and will be distorted.

The background mask should be masking only the parts of the room which are furthest away, for many interior pictures the back wall. If there are furniture being distorted you should try to mask them on the layer which they are standing on (please watch SPA_04_Advanced_Masking.mp4) or you try to separate that object in Photoshop and save it as a png file with transparency. Then heal the picture where your object was originally: try to stamp the the background or use the content aware fill. After that you can use your isolated object like described in the “SPA_03_Objects_Plates” tutorial.

I hope this helps. If you got further questions please contact me through my profile page.

Best Regards Anton

Hi Anton, I love the simplicity of this! Great job! I am only wondering the following: How would I be able to change the dimensions or aspect ratio? Would it still work if I change the AE file to let’s say 1080×1080? This is often needed for creating videos for social.

Also, I am not able to open the following videos on Mac: -SPA_03_Objects_Plates.mp4 -SPA_04_Advanced_Masking.mp4 The others opened fine. But these two give me the following error: “The document “SPA_03_Objects_Plates.mp4” could not be opened.” The file isn’t compatible with Quicktime Player.

Thanks in advance!

Hi there, first of all I’m very sorry for my late reply.

Thank you very much for your kind words on my Simple Photo Animator! I’m glad you like it. :)

The Simple Photo Animator was made to work for FullHD (1920×1080) resolution. Changing the resolution of certain compositions will probably result in errors. So I suggest not to do this. But since your desired resolution (1080×1080) is lower than FullHD you could simply create a new composition with your resolution and place the “1080_3_Animation” composition in there. Then you can render your video in your resolution with your new composition. You only need to keep your new resolution in mind when placing your picture in the put source composition. I hope this makes sense. :) If you have further questions please contact me through my profile page:

Regardig the videos, I don’t know why they don’t play on your system. Is your quick time player up to date? The videos are also online on youtube, so the easiest way is probably to watch them there:

OK, I hope I was able to help. If not please contact me through my Profile page. Have a great day! :)

my fault by not realized that this doesnt do 4K composition…well c’est la vie

Hi there,

I’m sorry to hear you thought it would be 4k.

Unfortunately authors on videohive can’t give refunds themselves. You could try to write to the envato customer support and ask for a refund. You can also write that I am fine with a refund, this might help.

The new Photo Animator update has the same camera presets and supports UHD resolution. It is on sale right now, in case this would be interesting for you:

Have a nice day! Best Regards Anton

This project doesn’t have 4K option – waste of $$

Dear Roger,

I’m very sorry to hear about your disappointment of the lacking of 4k resolution.

The Simple Photo Animator is a reduced and more automated version of my Photo Animator. I created this, because many people where asking for a lower priced Photo Animator. So in order to have a justification for two different priced Photo Animators they needed to differ in their functionality. One feature I left out was the 4k resolution. I created this Simple Photo Animator about 2 years ago. It was meant for people who wanted to create quickly a photo animation and who not necessarily have to be full professional after effects users, thus the animation presets. So, times are changing and 4k is becoming more and more standard, so I can understand your disappointment. I might add 4k resolution in the future, but it is not that easily done, since it involves many many precomps and expressions, which need to be adjusted. I might have time for that in a month. I know this doesn’t help you now, but I hope I at least was able to explain why it didn’t have 4k in the first place.

Btw, it is written in the description, further down that the resolution is FullHD, but I admit that it can be over read. So I just added this information in the first sentence as well.

Although authors on videohive can’t refund items themselves I can try to help you, if you want to return. Please contact me through my profile.

Best Regards Anton

Hi

I just buy but nothing seems to work. When I press the create button nothing happens. I’m using AE CC 2015 with windows 7.

Never mind..I figured it out

Hi Steve, I’m glad you figured it out and thank you for letting me know. Happy to answer any further questions if they should arise. Best Regards, Anton

hello there can i know if i cant get the discount from the black monday sale since i really want it but i missed it

Hi there, I’m sorry, but only envato can make price changes and discounts on videohive items. I have no way to create a discount. I’m sorry. Best Regards, Anton

Hi there, envato changed the price policy and now videohive authors can also change the price. So I’m running a discount of -25% right now in case you are still interested. Best Regards, Anton

Great Awork ! Good Luck With Sale !

will this work with CS5.5 and CC 2018 ?

Yes, it will work with CS4 and any newer version of After Effects. :)

when i running the script, AE pop up a warning said” unable to execute script at line 17.undefined is not an object” What happen? I can’t see the script button

I’m using after effects 2017

Hi Tony,

I’m sorry to hear that you are having a problem. It sounds like you are trying to run the script without having the accompanied Simple_Photo_Animator.aep file opened. You need to open that after effects file and place your picture in the “Put Source” composition and create your mask in the “Set Mask” composition. This way the script knows which picture and mask to use.

Best Regards Anton

Creative visuals are endless with this product Anton ! Such a great tool to have. Do you need your other photo animator in order for this to work ?

Thank you very much for your compliment on my Simple Photo Animator! :) Of course you do not need my regular Photo Animator to run it. You only need After Effects (version cs4 or newer). Best Regards, Anton

Hi Anton, What is this month new update includes?

I only added two tutorials, which you can find also in the description (Object Placement & Advanced Masking) The files have stayed the same. ;) Best Regards, Anton

Hi Anton, The script file doesn’t seem to be supported with my Mac

Hi there, I’m sorry to hear you are having problems running the script. It’s hard to tell what the exact problem is with no further information. The simple Photo Animator works with Adobe After Effects CS4 or newer regardless on which operating system. So it should work on your mac as well as long as you have a running After Effects (CS4 or newer). On a mac the script file should be copied to your after effects scripts folder which should be located at: Applications/Adobe After Effects (version number)/Scripts After copying the script in there you should restart After Effects. And then it should work. If you keep having problems, please write me a mail (anton@21grams.de) with more details or even screenshots and I’ll try to help more. I’m sorry for the trouble. Best Regards, Anton

Does it work in Final Cut Pro x? If not… do you know something similar to your item for that software? Thanks a lot

Hi there, I’m sorry, but this item only works with Adobe After Effects CS4 (or newer). I also don’t know something similar for Final Cut. Best Regards Anton

Thanks for answer

Hi Anton, this looks really great and simple! I just have a few questions:

Will this plugin work if i wanted to create a photo animation with objects in the foreground? For example if i mask out the object (let’s say a person) in photoshop and create a clean plate in photoshop could I import both layers and use this plugin to make a simple animation? I’m using After effects CC 2015 on a Mac. Thank you

Hi Romashka,

thank you very much for your interest in my Simple Photo Animator. :)

Yes, it is very easy to put plates in the animation. You actually have two possibilities:

1) There are 8 Layers (equaly spread from back to front) on which you can put your plates.

2) There is a Text-Layer on which you can place text, particles or anything you like (like your masked object). The Text-Layer can be moved to any depth you wish.

You can put your main picture in the put_source comp and have it spread from back to front on the 8 layers (they will be connected with no steppings). Or you can simply put it on the last layer (Layer 8 )

Of course it will work with your AE version! :)

If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. I’m always happy to hep! :)

Have a great day!

Best Regards Anton

Hi Anton, Thanks for your answer but I still don’t understand as my knowledge of AE is very basic. Will you be releasing a tutorial on this or could you guide me after I purchase the plugin? Best regards

Hi Romashka,

in the SPA tutorial I show how to use the text-layer:

https://youtu.be/qqH9iZUNu_c?t=6m55s

In the “Your Text” composition you can put anything you want (like a png-picuture with alpha-channel that you created in Photoshop) and move it to any depth in the picture you like.

If you havn’t done already I would suggest to watch the whole tutorial. I think after that everything is more clear:

https://youtu.be/qqH9iZUNu_c

If you watch the tutorial you can see that there is a folder named “(1080_LAYERS (advanced)”. Within that folder you have all 8 Layer-compositions that your “3D space” contains. You can double click on each composition and add your plates. If you add it to layer 8 it will be in the far background and behave like it. If you put it on layer 1 it is very close to the camera and moves relativly quick like something infront of a camera would do. It is pretty simple and I’m sure if you have a little basic AE knowledge you will be able to do it. But of course I would be happy to help if you’re having difficulties.

Have a great weekend!

Best Regards Anton

Hi Anton, I just bought the Animator… but where is the drop down menu? I’m on Windows, using CC 2107 and CC 2015. Thanks

Hi Anton – I figured it out… no reason to respond to me. Thanks and great work!

Hi Scotty, glad to hear you figured it out already. Hope you’re having fun with it and that you will create many great animations. :) Best Regards Anton

Hi Anton. I have noticed that the last update was on 28 February 2017. What was the update includes and do we have to download it? Thank you.

Hi Mick, I only included the fix for that bug, where the dropdown menus are cropped. You and another customer had this problem and in case someone else has it, I included that fixed version. You already got that by mail, so no need for you to download. :) Best Regards and have a great day! :)

Thank you Anton.
