Hello! I’m using AE 2024 and 2025, but I can’t run the program. The installation was successful, but when I try to apply the automation by selecting the hand and the marker, it doesn’t do anything. I noticed two issues with the example you sent to me.
1. Please make sure the preset is installed properly. Somehow, I did not see it installed in your project. Please check the tutorial at around 01:58 to see how to install the preset. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oZbW5DTiDg
2. Make sure the layer is selected before you hit the “apply” button. check the tutorial around 03:54 about this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oZbW5DTiDg
Please give it a try and let me know if that works.
Just an idea for an update, moving the speed control to the precomp that is made, instead of needing to open the precomp to change the speed value, this way when doing multiple layers, you can easily adjust the speed for all of them and stagger quicker

This tool is absolutely sick. I have used it with ease for the last few days. Today, I started up AE and the tool seems to be broken. I reinstalled it because of this issue, but I am still having the same problem. It seems as though it’s on a loop of sorts. I am not good at describing the problem so here is a video of what I mean, you will see it at the end, it basically seems to loop the footage, I tried it before, and after the “stagger” button was hit also.

It goes really fast and AE loops the animation fast too. Please make sure you the composition got enough length to play the animation.
You sir, are a certified badass. 1st off, writing me to give me help on a sunday afternoon at 4pm (EST), amazed me. You were dead right about the time. I also found out it was the PSD file messing up too. I remade the PSD file and extended the timeline, and it worked like a charm!!!! Thank you so much for your super fast reply!

Is this the same whiteboard that is on aescripts called “Automatic Whiteboard” I noticed that one does not have a nice graphical display like this one.

Hello oudama, are you using AE in the English version? Please note that this script only supports AE in the English version. If you are, did you get the preset installed successfully? You should get an alert like “presets installed successfully” if the preset is installed correctly. Please let me know.

Hello annebirgitteandersen, great suggestion. Although Auto Whiteboard is designed in a way that the hand can be scaled up a bit without losing a lot of details, and the program should still work when working on a project that is bigger than HD in theory, but I haven’t tried 4K yet. Now that time has been changing and 4K is more in demand, I’d love to see how it looks like in 4K and if it does not look good on 4K, how much cost would it take to make it officially support 4K. For example, I know the size of the file could increase quite much, which is a downside user already complaining. So I will evaluate this and put this on the list for now. Thank you for your support.

Hey mate I have a text layer and followed one your tips from somebody else except the text layer still doesnt draw? I selected the text layer first and then selected mask option first and then it turned the text into a compositition which i opened and then drew my mask over that clicked the second button pressed play but no hand movement?

Yep, english and the issue is as soon as I’m opening the file ..jsxbin file on the Window tab in AE.
Hello NitaMorales15, here are few more things to check. Then we will know if it is a script issue or installation/environment issue:
1: Did you make sure the path where you installed the script and the path where you put the presets package are in English letters with no special letters? Can you provide me the folder path you installed the script and the path where you put the presets package?
2: Did you put the script to something like “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects 2020\Support Files\Scripts\ScriptUI Panels” (Make sure it is scriptUI folder, not script folder)?
3: Did you make sure in Preferences > Scripting & Expressions – You have “Allow Scripts to Write File and Access Network” enabled?
4: Did you restart AE after installation?
5: Are you using mac or windows?
6: Can you provide me the AE version as well?
Each user’s work environment can be quite different so please let me know your answer for each question to narrow the issues down. Thank you!

How about a vector format of an illustration? Like a SVG? Can the hand trace the drawing path automatically without making the mask? Second question, can the tip of the pen/marker be colored depending on the color that is being drawn?
Hello oleolevfb, the hand can not trace the path automatically without making the mask; and you may change the tip of the pen/marker manually with some AE effects but it is not an automatic process.
Hello, we are using After Effects 17.0.5, we have followed all the steps that the tutorial tells us, but we cannot get past the point where the apply button has to be pressed. When we press the button instead of following with a single layer as in the tutorial. We have three layers
1. speed control 2. p6-m6 … mp4 3. my .png

Hello 7dedisseny, are you using After Effects in English version? I can not see very clear from your video but it seems like you are using Spanish version? Please note that the script is only supported in English version for now. Although I highlighted this note in description, I understand some users may ignore it. Please let me know if you can switch AE to English version.
