After putting the folder into preset and restart After effect, and I still cannot find it in After effect.

Hi there,

Do you have a direct email address? I need help with this project file!

I need the compress in to come in from the other side and for the letters at the END of the word to compress/smash first, like it was hitting a wall coming from left to right. How can I achieve that?

Hi Brad, Sent you an email with a screencap and custom project.

I bought this template. Please send me the project file that you used to create the animations that are in the video preview on videohive. You included a project file, but it’s not the same file that created those animations. You said in description that that project file is included and it clearly is not. I am going to request a refund if I do not get that project file. Thanks.

Hello there Iafilmwizard,

Thanks for purchasing.

The project file definitiely is included in the download. It’s called _Awesome Cartoon Typo CS6+ (v3).aep and you can find it in the sub-folder Extras/Preview – The After Effects Project of your download.

I’ve just opened this project file to check it’s all working fine in CC2018 – and yes it is. I’ve also done a side by side comparison with the rendered preview. It is identical, except for in one respect:- a couple of the effects that use randomized positions use different randomized positions in CC2018. I guess After Effects 2018 calculates randoms slightly differently than CS6 did. But that’s an insignificant detail, since the whole point of randomization is to mix things up a bit, not to put letters at some absolute coordinate in space. Changing the text itself will also have the effect of changing the letter positions anyway.

Apart from this small detail, everything is identical.

But maybe there’s something I’ve missed. Perhaps you could tell me exactly what it is that you think is different about the project? Maybe you haven’t installed the typeface I used and the text looks different (there’s a link to the typeface in the resources section of the user guide). Or maybe you’re rendering it in draft 3D mode or without motion blur. There are plenty of reasons why it might look different, and without a bit of clarification from you, I’m just guessing.

Best,

felt_tips.

Can you please send me the project file for this.

Nice Work!!! Does the “Add ON” give your font that cool 3D look as well ?

Hi Vizion,

The actual presets just create the animations, on 2D or 3D text. This is important, because you need to be able to add these animations to any style of text.

However, the item also contains the things you need to get the exact look of the preview, not all of which is saveable in a preset.

What the download includes is drag-and-droppable material presets, to give your 3D text the same look – and importantly, the correct lighting rig (a lot about how 3D text looks is to do with how you light it).

So the procedure is: • Create your texts • Drag and drop the animation preset • Drag and drop the material preset • Import the lighting rig • Render

Here’s a video from the user guide, detailing how you do it.

Hope that helps,

It’s awesome but unfortunately, when I try to put effects on the text even on new layer, I could meet error messages on every time. How can I solve this problem to use your presets properly. FYI, OS Win7 64bit, CS6 and that error message was

After effects warning : Undefined value used in expression. Could be an out of range array subscript? Expression disabled.

Error occurred at line 0. Comp: ‘Copm 1’ Layer: 1 (‘solid’) Property:’slider’

That error above was happend when I used ” Felt-Tips – Cartoon- 21. Funky Boing Up v2” on the normal text

Plz, let me know how can I solve this error ASAP

Hi Candybear.

Full instructions on installing and using the presets are included in the download. The user guide is very thorough, so it’s best that you refer to that. There’s a text user guide (in the form of html web pages) and various video user guides. The _OVERVIEW(12_mins) video user guide gives you full instructions of how to install and use the presets. The rest of the video user guides are individual in-depth guides to the individual effects. You can just drag and drop the effects, and they look great, but there’s a whole lot of other stuff you can do with most of the effects, and that’s what the individual user guides are about.

No plug-ins are required to use these presets. They are 100% After Effects native.

I replied to the email you sent me. So just send any screenshots or After Effects .aep files you want to send me to the return address.

Hi Candybear,

Thanks for the screenshots. I just sent you a video screencap and some information. Let me know here if it gets lost somewhere in cyberspace. :-)

-felt.

Can I use different fonts in that presset?

Yes, absolutely.

Shadows with light does not work when I add this animations to text. Can you please help me how to do it?

Hi Snoopj,

Thanks for purchasing.

If you’re having trouble getting your lights to cast shadows, it’s likely to be an issue with the lights or how you’re getting After Effects to preview the scene, and not an issue with 22 Awesome Cartoon Presets. It could be any number of things… possibly you have Draft 3D turned on. Possibly you have not set your lights to cast shadows. Possibly you have put a 2D layer between your 3D text and your lights, breaking the continuity of the 3D space. You might also go to your text layer and under Material Options, check whether you have Receives Shadows turned on.

If you like, you can email me your project over (don’t send assets, just the .aep file). I can have a quick look and tell you straightaway where the problem lies. Contact me via my profile page and I’ll get back to you.

Best,

-Felt.

Hi! Is it possible to apply just the extrussion with no animation at all with this preset?. Thanks.

Hi Cgiraldo,

Yes, there are presets in the download to create the text look. This consists of a 3D material, a 3D extrusion / bevel preset and a lighting set-up. Those are the three elements you need to make text that looks like what you see in the preview. To get it looking exactly the same, you’d need to use the right typeface too.

Does this purchase come with the text? I see it comes with the project file, just wanted to be sure because the text is what really sold me on this. Thanks

Hi Ray.

Excuse the late reply. I’ve been rather laid up with a damaged knee lately, and missed this one. I see you’ve already purchased ‘22 Cartoon’, so I guess you’ve found everything you need.

Just to confirm: everything you see in the preview is in the download. All of the 22 presets are available as drag and drop presets that you can apply to any text layer in a couple of seconds. There’s also the lighting rig I’ve used, which you can drop into any scene, and there are material presets included which you just drag and drop onto your text to recreate the look and colour of my project in seconds.

Alternatively, you can just open the project and customize it like a standard AE project template if you prefer.

There are a couple of external resources you do need to go and get separately, as they’re not mine and I’m not allowed to include them in the download. Those are the open source typeface that I’ve used (which is free), and the audio track (which you need to purchase from Audio Jungle if you want to use it). Both are linked in the user guide material. And of course for After Effects 3D you currently need to be using an nVidia graphics card.

If you have any other questions, drop me a line via my profile page.

jus purchased 22 Awesome Cartoon Text Presets

is there way to change the direction the text comes

Hi Spikespeezy,

Thanks for purchasing.

Regarding your question: Almost certainly, but you’d need to tell me which preset you’re talking about specifically.

Did you already find the individual 2 minute video tutorials for each preset?

Drop me a line via my profile page (you can send me an email using the box halfway down on the right hand side). Let me know which of the 22 presets in particular you’re talking about and I can advise you.

-felt.

Hi FT….These presets are outstanding!! :) Cheers… Tony

will they indeed work with my AE CS5.5 ?

Yes, they work fine in CS5.5, but you won’t be able to get the extruded text effect, because text extrusion only exists in CS6 and above. In CS5.5 you can use them in 2D or 2.5D mode.

perfect.. thanks – time to upgrade to CS6 :-)

I’ve bought this file but cannot download it – it keeps failing after a few minutes. I’ve tried several other browsers and PCs – none have worked. Envato support are not answering emails sent. Any ideas on what I can do?

Hi Tanya,

You already got in touch via my profile page and we sorted out an interim solution.

But for anyone else reading who’s having trouble with the download from Envato, – the solution is to get in touch with me via my profile page! :-)

hi i just wanted to say that Ben could get an award for being the most helpful person on earth!! thanks ben for the lengths you have gone to assist me, even sending me videos you recorded to try and help and to remotely take over my pc to try and figure out the problem!!! i hope you earn big bucks on here, you deserve it :)

It’s a pleasure!

Thanks to you too for helping to find a workaround for the After Effects bug that was causing a crash for a handful of users. Thanks to the information you provided, I managed to find a workaround that compromises none of the presets’ speed or functionality.

Awesome work, felt_tips!

Everytime I try the composition of ‘Boing Up’, ‘Funky Boing Up’ or ‘Twist Change’, After Effects crashes. Also when I try these presets in a new file it crashes… The other presets and composition does work, but unfortunately I only need the ‘Funky Boing Up’ Presets. I tried both option on the MAC and Windows computer with After Effects CS6 and both receive the same crashes. Is there a possibility or workaround to use these presets?

Hi Nima Des,

Sorry to hear you’re having problems. There are a couple of people who are experiencing a crash on a couple of the presets, but unfortunately no-one has yet been able to give me enough information for me to understand why it’s happening – and I haven’t been able to replicate the crash myself.

The problem with a crash is that it’s a problem with the program (or possibly the system that’s running the program), not a problem with the preset, or any other way you’re using the program – and that makes it extra tricky to debug. (the program should never crash).

It may be to do with how you have the program set-up, your OS, typefaces, RAM settings or any other number of things. But from what I’ve managed to learn so far from the couple of people who have experienced similar is that it could be to do with certain non-english character-set typefaces. Could that also be the case with you? Are you using a typeface with a cyrillic character set, Mandarin, Hebrew or even something like Dingbats?

Anyway, if you’d be willing to send a couple of emails back and forth to get to the bottom of the problem, I’d be very willing to help out. I’d very much like to know what’s making Ae crash and I guess Adobe might too! :-)

Drop me a message via my profile page and I’ll get back to you.

-felt.

Update: Solved.

This turned out to be a rare issue that affected a very small number of Ae CS6 users (about 2%). It appears to be an After Effects bug.

However, 22 Awesome Cartoon Presets has now been updated with a workaround. Now all presets are fully stable on ALL computers! :-)

Love this product, but I haven’t been able to get it to work! I did paste it into the Presets folder, but I can’t see it when I got to “Effects & Presets” ... not even if I type “felt” .. I can see the folder if I go in through Bridge ... but if I try to add the animation, I get an error message. “error reading from file”

Please advise, Thanks!

Hi Memory Magic,

Thanks for purchasing and sorry to hear you’re having trouble installing the presets.

It’s hard to say what’s going wrong without being to see your computer set up, but it kind of looks like either the .ffx preset files are getting corrupted when they’re being unzipped, or that you’ve installed them in to the presets folder for another version of After Effects (if you have multiple versions), or that you’re using an incompatible After Effects version.

After Effects picking up the contents of the presets folder inside the program should be a completely normal and automatic process.

I guess the first question is “which version of After Effects are you using?”. The presets are compatible with Ae CS5 and above.

After that, I’d ask you to check that the 22 preset files are visible – have the right names with the .ffx extension and that they’re installed in the right place.

Maybe try unzipping the file again and copying the files over again.

If all of that doesn’t work, drop me a line via my profile page and we’ll go into a bit more detail. I’m sure we’ll easily get to the bottom of the problem.

Best,

-Felt.

Oh! That did it, thank you … I have both CS6 and CC, but neither one was working. I downloaded it again, and re-installed into the folders again and I am able to see them. Thanks for your help!

Cool. Glad it’s working now!

-felt.

Hey! Good work! Why my AE CS6 gets crash when I take presets on the text? Some work, some od not. Sorry for my English. Poland <3!

Roll In, Roll Out same best presets crash my ae twist change etc

Hi Jusofy,

Since it’s to do with the program crashing, rather than the presets simply not working, it’s a bug with the program. (The program should never crash!).

I’m not able to reproduce the crash, so it’s hard to say what’s causing it. But drop me an email via my profile page and we’ll see if we can find a workaround.
